At the halfway mark of the migration process with Malaysia Airlines towards a next generation passenger services system (PSS), we celebrated with a visit to their offices here in Kuala Lumpur.
I’ve managed more than 10 PSS migrations during my seven years at Amadeus for a diverse group of airlines. Each of these massive migrations is unique of course, but this one is particularly exciting as it is part of Malaysia Airlines’ global effort to re-establish its leadership position. I personally feel extremely motivated, honoured, and fortunate to be here supporting this amazing transformation journey.
We opened the event with a Chinese New Year celebration followed by an excellent speech from Peter Bellew, CEO of Malaysia Airlines. Mr. Bellew spoke about the encouraging results they are seeing and he said that passengers should always be placed at the centre of what they do. He also expressed his optimism that the Amadeus Altéa PSS will provide the right technology to create a more personalised customer experience. During his speech, Mr. Bellew said that “the PSS journey does not stop at cutover”. We full-heartedly agree with him on this point. Amadeus will continue to evolve together with Malaysia Airlines to perfect its business model, which is about mobile, convenience, personalisation and speed to market, which requires the PSS as well as the people behind it to be agile.
Arved Von Zur Muehlen, Malaysia Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, also shared his view of the migration, saying that “with Amadeus’ PSS, Malaysia Airlines has a new heart that will allow us to do fantastic things”.
Finally, Xavier Vanstaen, Amadeus’ VP of Delivery Management, Asia Pacific, delivered an inspiring talk on how we value our partnership and reiterated our commitment to Malaysia Airlines’ success. I also had the opportunity, along with a Malaysia Airlines’ program director, to share the ins and outs of the migration.
Following the speeches we were all delighted by a ‘Malaysia Airlines Got Talent’ singing performance. Overall, there was a great atmosphere between all the teams and the event was a nice moment to stop and catch our breath before getting back to the challenging project ahead.
